Schedules are typically developed from the top to down but are then maintained from ‘Level 4’ up. Level 5 schedules are temporary documents based on the ‘Look-ahead’ schedule and are used to coordinate work in an area.
L1 Schedule is the Executive Summary, also called a Project Master Schedule (PMS). This is a major milestone type of schedule; usually consists of only one page, and it highlights major project activities, milestones, and key deliverables for the whole project.
It is used to summarize the project schedule in reports and other documents when a more detailed schedule is not required
used often in contracts to set key milestone deliverables and to assist in the decision-making process (go/no-go, prioritization, and determining the criticality of projects)
L2 Schedule is the Management Summary, also called a Summary Master Schedule (SMS). It is maintained as a summarization of the Level 3 Project Coordination Schedule(s). It represents the overall project as the project is broken down into its major components, and is used for higher-level management reporting.
It can be used to integrate multiple contractors / multiple project schedules for the overall control of a program.

L3 Schedule is the Project Coordination Schedule (PCS) and also called Publication Schedule. Initially developed as an integrated CPM (Critical Path Method) overview of the project, the Level 3 schedule is then maintained as an integrated roll-up or summary of the Level 4 schedule activities for reporting status to Senior Management and to report monthly status to major project parties, etc. The schedule consists of a set of integrated Level 4 schedules, these schedules are based on Critical Path Methodology (CPM) and developed with detailed input from the project management team.
The Level 3 schedule spans the whole of the project and is used to support the monthly report. It includes all major milestones, major elements of design, engineering, procurement, construction, testing, commissioning, and/or Operation.

L4 Schedule is the Execution Schedule, also called Project Working Level Schedule. Level 4 is the detailed working level schedule, where each schedule is an expanded part of a Level 3 schedule and is established within the integrated project schedule.
This is the key working-level CPM schedule displaying the activities to be accomplished by the project workforce and is required for every project.
The dates generated by the scheduled activities represent the anticipated start and completion of work required to complete the project.
Level 4 example
L5 Schedule is the Detailed Schedule. It is a further breakdown of the activities of a Level 4 Schedule. The schedule is used to map out the detailed tasks needed to coordinate day-to-day work in a specific area.

This page describes how to integrate Apache HTTP Server (also referred to as httpd
) with JIRA, utilizing mod_proxy & mod_ssl so that Apache operates as a reverse-proxy over HTTPS. If a HTTP configuration is required, please see our Integrating JIRA with Apache documentation. Configuring Apache allows for running JIRA on non-standard HTTP port (such as 8080) and users will be able to access JIRA over standard HTTPS as their traffic will be routed through the proxy and encrypted outside of the network.
This means the SSL certificate will be managed within Apache and not Tomcat, additionally the connection between Apache and Tomcat will not be encrypted. However, the connection between the browser and the outside network will be encrypted. This is suitable for configurations where the JIRA server is within the same network as the Apache server and is illustrated below:
Client Browser -> HTTPS -> Apache Proxy -> HTTP -> Tomcat (JIRA)
This is a common configuration for networks with multiple SSL certificates and/or web applications as they are all managed in one location (Apache).
