As of today, all the garden beds have been planted. Which is no small feat! In our bio-intensive garden we have:
9 varieties of tomato (30 plants total)
13 varieties of squash
5 varieties of onion (I stopped counting individual plants when I hit 500)
6 varieties of pepper (28 plants total)
5 varieties of kale (32 plants total)
16 broccoli plants
8 cauliflower plants

So hard to believe that two years ago when I purchased my home, this was all just a boring front lawn
Last summer we only had four of the 4x8 raised beds built in time to plant for a harvest, and we managed to grow about 300 pounds of fresh produce out of just those 4 beds! So you can do a lot with very little space

The author does a really good job of explaining how to integrate permaculture and bio-intensive methods to your garden.
We personally don’t use an non-organic fertilizers (we simply till in about an inch of organic compost to the top 4 inches of soil in the beds each spring) and we don’t use any chemical pesticide/insecticide/fungicides at all. Our pest protection consists of the fencing and fabric row covers to help deter deer, and companion planting with plants like
Marigold and onions/garlic/herbs to help deter insect pests along with choosing disease resistant heirloom varieties of seeds when available.
For us, it is all about trying to work in tandem with nature rather than fighting it
All your goals make sense to me. The beauty of our area is the natural water supply is unlimited with 100% regeneration of the water table every year. I'll do something "creative" to automatically engineer water to the raised beds borrowing from water methods done 4000 years ago in the Middle East. I have a creative, flexible model on how to easily manage the high winds that come up without any added energy using available natural materials. I'm hoping, after the garden is established that it can be low maintenance without need for external power systems etc. Across the street a neighbor has done very well with wild blueberry and raspberry bushes that don't require added work except for occasional raking etc.

Harvest Before Seed Set: The only way hemp spreads is by dropping seeds. If you harvest the crop for fiber or CBD before the seeds mature and shatter, it cannot spread.
Tillage: If seeds do drop (or if growing for grain), any "volunteer" plants that pop up the next spring can easily be killed by simple mowing or tilling the soil.
Distinction from Weeds: Do not confuse industrial hemp with Hemp Dogbane. Dogbane is a perennial weed native to North America that does spread aggressively via underground creeping roots (rhizomes) and is hard to kill. Industrial hemp (Cannabis sativa) generally does not have this invasive root structure.
